EFA Productions gGmbH

Founded in 2006 to produce the European Film Awards Ceremony for television, EFA Productions gGmbH is the in-house production company of the European Film Academy e.V. The first European Film Awards were held in 1988 and its mandate is to promote the richness and variety of European cinema. The Awards Ceremony is held on the first Saturday in December and its location alternates between Berlin and other European film capitals. In 2008, the 21st European Film Awards were the first time the event travelled North: The ceremony took place in Copenhagen on 6 December and was broadcast in 42 countries. In 2009, as Berlin’s unique contribution to RUHR.2010 European Capital of Culture, the European Film Academy and EFA Productions gGmbH presented the 22nd European Film Awards in Germany’s Ruhr Metropolis.

The 23rd European Film Awards took place in Tallinn on 4 December 2010.
