EFA Productions gGmbH

Founded in 2006 to produce the European Film Awards Ceremony for television, EFA Productions gGmbH is the in-house production company of the European Film Academy e.V. The first European Film Awards were held in 1988 and its mandate is to promote the richness and variety of European cinema. The Awards Ceremony is held on the first Saturday in December and its location alternates between Berlin and other European film capitals. In 2008, the 21st European Film Awards were the first time the event travelled North: The ceremony took place in Copenhagen on 6 December and was broadcast in 42 countries.

The European Film Awards 2009 will take place in Germany’s Ruhr area on occasion of the European Capital of Culture Year RUHR 2010!
